Participant-Driven Divorce Mediation for Families in Bensalem
New Hope Divorce Mediation serves divorcing and separating spouses in Bensalem who want to remain in control of the decisions that shape their separation. One of the most populated communities in Bucks County, Bensalem is home to families who benefit from a structured, cooperative process that keeps both participants actively involved at every step. Mediation is a voluntary, participant-driven process where both individuals work alongside a neutral mediator to address parenting, finances, property, and future planning. Participants in nearby Levittown and Cornwells Heights are also served through our flexible in-person and online session options. New Hope Divorce Mediation is committed to helping families in Bensalem reach well-informed agreements on their own terms.
Divorce Made Straightforward
Our process is designed to make mediation as simple, efficient, and stress-free as possible.
How NHDM Divorce Mediation Works
The NHDM process begins with both participants sharing relevant financial information and any preliminary agreements with each other and the mediator. Sessions are then organized around the specific issues each couple needs to resolve, including property division, financial responsibilities, parenting arrangements, and communication planning. The mediator facilitates every conversation, helping both participants articulate their priorities, consider their options, and work through challenges step by step. The pace is always determined by the participants themselves. Once all terms are agreed upon, the mediator prepares your Marital Settlement Agreement and Custody Stipulation for review and approval. After you sign your Agreements, we will assist you in moving forward with the pro se filing process with the Court so you can obtain your Divorce Decree. All sessions are confidential and available in person or online.
Why Participants in Bensalem Choose New Hope Divorce Mediation
Participants in Bensalem choose mediation because it keeps both individuals in control of every decision that affects their lives and their family. Rather than leaving outcomes to a judge or to attorneys arguing in a courtroom, both participants actively shape the terms of their agreement. This sense of ownership leads to outcomes that are more practical and more durable over time. For families with children, the cooperative structure of mediation builds the foundation for productive communication and effective co-parenting long after the divorce is finalized. The process moves in months rather than years, and its cost is a fraction of what a litigated divorce typically demands. Mediation is private, scheduling is flexible, and the pace is always set by the participants themselves.
What to Expect from New Hope Divorce Mediation
Our mediators create a safe space where both participants can speak openly, ask questions, and work through difficult topics without pressure or judgment. We do not advocate for either party, take sides, or offer legal advice. We provide relevant information, help clarify complicated topics, and ensure that both participants have a full opportunity to be heard throughout the process. With extensive experience helping families across Bucks County, our team understands that clarity, patience, and steady pacing are essential at every stage of mediation.

We don’t get along well. How can we possibly mediate?
Some people understandably think that they must be amicable to mediate. It is a common misconception. While that is a terrific place to start, it is often unrealistic, as communication may be at an all-time low when a couple is approaching the divorce process. Part of your attorney-mediator’s training is to assist divorcing couples who have difficulty communicating but who still would prefer to work things out between themselves to retain control over the terms of their divorce, save money and expedite the divorce process. Your attorney-mediator will guide you through a problem-solving process that encourages you to attack the problems, not each other.
What are the steps in the divorce mediation process?
The process begins with a consultation where you will have the opportunity to meet with one of our attorney-mediators free of charge to determine whether this is the right process for you. We explain and discuss the mediation process in detail so that you can make an informed decision about how you want to proceed. During mediation sessions, you and the mediator identify and discuss the various issues you need to resolve and explore options and possibilities for how to resolve them. Your attorney-mediator will provide information about the law which is relevant to your issues and information to help you reach agreements that meet all your needs. When you have reached agreement on all issues, your attorney-mediator will draft your Marital Settlement Agreement and Custody Agreement for your review. After your attorney-mediator has drafted your agreements, you may meet to review the draft so that you are comfortable that the formal agreements properly reflect your understanding.
Will our agreement be legally binding and enforceable?
Yes. Once your Marital Settlement Agreement is signed it is a legally binding contract. Mediated agreements are just as binding as the agreements reached during the litigation process and they have a better record of standing the test of time because both parties participated in creating it. When your divorce process is complete and your Divorce Decree is signed by a judge, the Marital Settlement Agreement will be incorporated into your Divorce Decree and the terms you have voluntarily agreed to will become a legally binding and enforceable Order of the Court.
Is mediation confidential?
Yes, mediation is a confidential process. Your communications with your mediator are confidential, which means your mediator will not share them with anyone outside of your mediation without your permission. Your negotiations during mediation are also inadmissible as evidence in court, which allows you to speak freely. Confidentiality encourages open communication and protects the privacy of both participants.
